Today, I am really pleased to welcome Lisa Keeble to my blog. It is the first time that she has featured here, but I hope that it won’t be the last. Welcome Lisa!
Tell is a little about yourself please Lisa
Well, I’m 53 years old and I currently live in the South of France although I was born, and lived most of my life, in the UK. I ran a successful internet company for a number of years but then my circumstances changed and I decided it was time for a change of location and career. I’d always wanted to be a writer – I started writing poetry when I was about 10 or 11 I think but I ended up being an accountant. When I moved here I took to the keyboard once again and here we are.
What drives you?
This may sound odd but I have stories in my…

Song Lyric Sunday

Good morning to everyone in the land of blog; I hope you’re having a great Sunday (or will have a great Sunday, depending where you are in the World). Another week has rolled around and it’s time again for Song Lyric Sunday, brought to us by the honourable Jim Adams. The theme for this week is ‘a song that features someone famous’; if something immediately springs to mind, why not play along? It’s a great way to discover new music and find new blogging friends. Here are some rules for you:

  • Post the lyrics to the song of your choice, whether it fits the theme or not.
  • Please try to include the songwriter(s) – it’s a good idea to give credit where credit is due.
  • Make sure you also credit the singer/band and if you desire you can provide a link to where you found the lyrics.
  • Link to the YouTube video, or pull it into your post so others can listen to the song.
  • Ping back to this post will eventually work, as long as you are being patient, but you can also place your link in the comments if you don’t like to wait.
  • Read at least one other person’s blog, so we can all share new and fantastic music and create amazing new blogging friends in the process.
  • Feel free to suggest future prompts.
  • Have fun and enjoy the music.

He’s walking where I’m afraid I don’t know
I see the firemen jumping from the windows
There’s panic and I hear somebody scream
(aaaah)
He picks up useless paper
And puts it in my pocket
I’m trying very hard to keep my fingers clean
I can’t remember tell me what’s his name
And all I wanted was a word or photograph to keep at home
And all I wanted was a word or photograph to keep
The sun is laughing its another broken morning
I see a shadow and call out to try and warn him
He didn’t seem to hear
Just turned away
The quiet fellow follows and points his fingers
Straight at you
He had to sacrifice his pride yes throw it all away
And all I wanted was a word or photograph to keep at home
And all I wanted was a word or photograph to keep
His days are numbered he walks round and round in circles
There is no place he can ever call his own
He seems to jump at the sound of the phone
Staring out the window there’s nothing he can now do
All he wanted was to remain sane
He can’t remember his own name
And all I wanted was a word or photograph to keep at home
And all I wanted was a word or photograph to keep
And all I wanted was a word or photograph
And all I wanted was a word or photograph to keep
And all I wanted was a word or photograph to keep at home
And all I wanted was a word or photograph to keep
And all I wanted was a word or photograph
And all I wanted was a word or photograph to keep

As soon as I read the prompt this song popped into my mind. Back in the day, I was a huge Madness fan and loved song after song after song that they put out but I was always a bit ‘meh’ with this one. It didn’t have the energy that I associate with Madness’ early work nor the darkness that they seemed to draw on with their later music but it fits the brief so I thought I’d share it with you – I’d be interested to know what you think.
As an added bonus I decided to share my favourite Madness track – if this doesn’t get you bouncing around the living room, I don’t know what will!

Have a super Sunday everyone!

This one was easy for me as I love the TV show that first introduced me to the song:

Hello, hello
Anybody out there? ‘Cause I don’t hear a sound
Alone, alone
I don’t really know where the world is but I miss it now
I’m out on the edge and I’m screaming my name
Like a fool at the top of my lungs
Sometimes when I close my eyes I pretend I’m alright
But it’s never enough
‘Cause my echo, echo
Is the only voice coming back
Shadow, shadow
Is the only friend that I have
Listen, listen
I would take a whisper if that’s all you had to give
But it isn’t, is it?
You could come and save me and try to chase the crazy right out of my head
I’m out on the edge and I’m screaming my name
Like a fool at the top of my lungs
Sometimes when I close my eyes I pretend I’m alright
But it’s never enough
‘Cause my echo, echo
Is the only voice coming back
Shadow, shadow
Is the only friend that I have
I don’t wanna be an island
I just wanna feel alive and
Get to see your face again
I don’t wanna be an island
I just wanna feel alive and
Get to see your face again
But ’til then
Just my echo, my shadow
You’re my only friend and I’m
I’m out on the edge and I’m screaming my name
Like a fool at the top of my lungs
Sometimes when I close my eyes I pretend I’m alright
But it’s never enough
‘Cause my echo, echo
Oh my shadow, shadow
Hello, hello
Anybody out there?
Songwriters: Nicholle Anne Galyon / Jason Walker
I’ve had a bit of a thing for vampires ever since I watched Interview With A Vampire (Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, Cristian Slater and Antonio Banderas all in the same film – what’s not to love!) but it became something of an obsession after I lost my husband. I watched The Vampire Diaries which led me to The Originals, I watched the Twighlight films back to back, I read every vampire novel I could lay my hands on……..after a long time, I realised why I had this compulsion – vampires don’t die.
In this particular episode Elena and Stefan were apart and they were pining for each other even though they knew that it was impossible for them to be together and this song, for me, really sums up those feelings. I was at a pretty low ebb when I watched this episode – missing my husband desperately, lonely and trying so hard to put on a brave face and keep putting one foot in front of the other. Needless to say I cried when I heard the opening lines:
“Hello, hello
Anybody out there? ‘Cause I don’t hear a sound
Alone, alone
I don’t really know where the world is but I miss it now”
and I guess that’s why this song has stuck with me. Anyway, I really hope that you enjoy it
As an added bonus track, here’s my favourite vampire of all time – the ultimate bad boy – Klaus Mikaelson. He’s doing what he does best, which is being mean and menacing and it’s all to an amazing track – Bartholomew by The Silent Comedy.

That’s it for now – have a super day :O)

FOWC: Repercussions

He took from his brother, a tiny train, because his coveted it

He took from his girlfriend, her innocence, uncontrolled lust

He took from his brother, a tiny train, because his coveted it

He took from his girlfriend, her innocence, uncontrolled lust

He took from his workmates, their ideas, too proud to fail

He took from his parents, everything and more, greed and ingratitude

He took from the plates of the starving, thoughtless gluttony

He took from his servants, without thanks or a thought, pure sloth

He took from his children, their peace, his wrath without limit

He took his own life, final sin, it ended without repercussions

I haven’t written any poetry for a while so I thought I’d make the most of Fandango’s one word prompt for today. Thanks for inspiring me once more Fandango ;O)

Hope you have a wonderful day one and all.

Available on Kindle….

Have you ever experienced something that you know to be real but, somehow, it just doesn’t feel that way? That was how I felt when I received an email this morning which said “Congratulations, your book is now available for purchase on Kindle.”

Have you ever experienced something that you know to be real but, somehow, it just doesn’t feel that way? That was how I felt when I received an email this morning which said “Congratulations, your book is now available for purchase on Kindle.” I’ve had my Kindle for years and it stores around 450 books, all of which I have downloaded and taken great pleasure in reading. The fact that someone may now do with my book is almost unfathomable but it has happened and I think, once the shock has worn off, I will be beyond thrilled.

I joined WP because, frankly, I needed something to do. I needed to busy myself as I tried to settle in a new country and  live with the grief that had crippled me for three years. I figured that I would post something, I’d read other people’s posts and try to learn from them so that I could gather a following; I honestly expected nothing more. What actually happened was that I discovered a community, a real community that exits in harmony because all the members have a common interest – a love of reading and writing. In the ‘real’ world there is so much hatred, bitterness, cynicism – all things that crush self-esteem and make us doubt ourselves at every turn. On WP there is openness, vulnerability, humour, support, honesty and kindness, especially kindness and spending time here restored my faith in human nature.

Beyond that and, arguably less importantly, it gave me the inspiration and courage to write from my heart without fear of derision. The acceptance and encouragement that I have received here on WP opened my mind enough for a book to escape and end up on Kindle. I can’t thank you all enough, sincerely, you have given me a new lease of life which, for a long time, I thought was impossible. There are a few people that I’d like to give special thanks to:

Mike, who asked me to write a synopsis for his book and first made me wonder if I might be able to write a book one day

Peter, who is wise, kind and funny and so positive about life that you can’t help but be swept along

Fandango whose FOWC one word prompts inspired me to start writing short stories – one of them ended up turning into a book

Lorraine, who, despite having her own challenges, is unfailingly kind and generous

Darren, who is one of the first people I connected with on WP and is an all round lovely guy

River, who rekindled my interest in poetry and inspired me to write with an open heart, as he does so well.

Rory, because he puts so much of himself into WP and his openness really inspired me

Brian, simply because he never fails to make me laugh and I’ve needed that (a lot) over the last couple of years

There are so many others – Wendi, Sadje, Billy, Tom, Boo, Deborah, Ivor, Brandi, Mike…..the list just goes on and on and I appreciate every single one of you. You have helped to make a long held dream come true with your support and kindness and I toast all of you with this rather insipid virtual champagne (it’s really not as good as the real thing!)

love and rain — noah_arkenswagg

I don’t care where the butterflies go when it rains, I just want to know if its me you’re missing when you make palm prints on your windows, whether it’s my name you whisper against the window while you watch the droplets race each other. noah_arkenswagg

I follow Noah and some of his poetry is extraordinary. This is a great example of his work and, when I read it, it really touched me – I hope that you’ll like it too :O)

I’m a beautiful mess !! — The poem zone

I came across this amazing poem and had to share it with you – it resonated with me on many levels and I think it might do the same for many of you…….

I’ve lied, hurt, broke & tarnished the loveliest soul. Don’t be fooled, this actions have been practiced on me. I’ve given, saved, been there for these souls in the toughest times. Done the impossible, & sacrificed myself for the proper happiness. Simply I’m a beautiful mess that is meaningless…!! I burned down in tears & […]

This week’s theme is Wedding/Marry/Diamond/Ring/Cake and, as soon as I read it my thoughts went back to my own wedding. I wasn’t sure whether to share this track with you or not, as this is what was playing as I walked towards the love of my life at the start of our marriage ceremony. It holds bitter/sweet memories for me but it is outstandingly beautiful; I hope that you enjoy it:

Te lucis ante terminum
Rerum creator poscimus
Ut solita clementia
Sis praesul ad custodium
Before the ending of the day
Creator of the world we pray
That with thy wonted favour thou
Would be our guard and keeper now
Keep me as the apple of an eye
Hide me under the shadow of thy wings
Keep me as the apple of an eye
Hide me, hide me, hide me
Hide me, hide me, hide me
The heaven soars with voices above
The skies resound the power of your love
The stars shine out your glorious light
Shine through our gloom and take us on high
Keep me as the apple of an eye
Hide me under the shadow of thy wings
Keep me as the apple of an eye
Hide me, hide me, hide me
Sancto Spiritu, rerum Creator
Sancto Spiritu
Sancto, Sancto Spiritu
Te lucis ante terminum
Songwriters: ROBERT PRIZEMAN
We had a civil service and had to fight to use this track because it was deemed to be ‘religious’ and apparently you can’t use ‘religious’ music in a civil ceremony. Fortunately common sense prevailed and I will never forget walking towards my husband-to-be while this music played. I thought that I’d be able to listen to it today without crying – I couldn’t, even after more than five years. On the day of my wedding I knew, without a shadow of a doubt, that I was deeply, deeply loved and that I loved without fear and beyond measure. I miss my husband every day but I will always be grateful for the fifteen wonderful years that we spent together.
