Well, another week has dashed by with unseemly haste and here we are again with another serving of Song Lyric Sunday, brought to us by the lovely Helen who resides at This thing called life one word at a time. Why not pay her a visit and then play along with us, you’ll have an awesome time discovering new music and making new friends.

Here are the rules:

  • Post the lyrics to the song of your choice, whether it fits the theme or not
  • Please try to include the songwriter(s) – it’s a good idea to give credit where credit is due and it’s honestly just a simple Google search
  • Make sure you also credit the singer/band and provide a link to where you found the lyrics
  • Link to the YouTube video, or pull it into your post so others can listen to the song
  • Ping back to this post or my own Song Lyric Sunday post
  • Read at least one other person’s blog so we can all share new and fantastic music and create amazing new blogging friends in the process

Here’s my choice for this week; it’s a slight reach but I figured that most chandeliers are made of glass so here you go:

Party girls don’t get hurt
Can’t feel anything, when will I learn
I push it down, push it down

I’m the one “for a good time call”
Phone’s blowin’ up, ringin’ my doorbell
I feel the love, feel the love

1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3 drink
1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3 drink
1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3 drink

Throw ’em back, till I lose count

I’m gonna swing from the chandelier, from the chandelier
I’m gonna live like tomorrow doesn’t exist
Like it doesn’t exist
I’m gonna fly like a bird through the night, feel my tears as they dry
I’m gonna swing from the chandelier, from the chandelier

But I’m holding on for dear life, won’t look down, won’t open my eyes
Keep my glass full until morning light, ’cause I’m just holding on for tonight
Help me, I’m holding on for dear life, won’t look down, won’t open my eyes
Keep my glass full until morning light, ’cause I’m just holding on for tonight
On for tonight

Sun is up, I’m a mess
Gotta get out now, gotta run from this
Here comes the shame, here comes the shame

1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3 drink
1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3 drink
1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3 drink

Throw ’em back till I lose count

On for tonight
‘Cause I’m just holding on for tonight
Oh, I’m just holding on for tonight
On for tonight
On for tonight
‘Cause I’m just holding on for tonight
‘Cause I’m just holding on for tonight
Oh, I’m just holding on for tonight
On for tonight
On for tonight

Writer(s): FURLER SIA KATE I, SHATKIN JESSE SAMUEL
I love this song, firstly, because Sia has a really extraordinary voice and, secondly because of the paradox that lies within the lyrics; they are both positive and negative, happy and sad and that’s something that I can truly relate to.
The death of my husband caused me to shut off my emotions for a long time; I was existing and nothing more. Over time they gradually crept back, happiness amongst them, but my grip on them always feels very tenuous. There are days when I am determined that
“I’m gonna swing from the chandelier, from the chandelier
I’m gonna live like tomorrow doesn’t exist”
and I do exactly that sometimes but there is always that feeling that I cannot banish from the dark recesses of my mind……
“Help me, I’m holding on for dear life, won’t look down, won’t open my eyes”
I’m trying very hard to have more days swinging from chandeliers, loving the freedom of flying through the air and less holding on for dear life, afraid to look down.
Have a wonderful Sunday you lovely people
Lisa
