When I Was Young: Published

Those lovely folk over at Spillwords have very kindly published another one of my poems today and I can’t thank them enough!  If you’re a poet or a writer of short stories don’t be afraid to submit your work to them as they’re a great bunch of people and they won’t bite ;O) Anyway, if you get a couple of minutes I hope that you’ll wander over there and read it.

Happy Day!

Do you ever have those moments when you just sit and quietly think to yourself ‘today is a good day?’ Aren’t they just the best?! I hope that you will have many of them in your life because we all deserve a good day every now and again.

Thanks to the lovely people over at Spillwords, today is one of those days for me as they have very kindly published my poem Roses are Red. I hope you’ll pop over there and have a read and I also hope that any of you out there who are poetically inclined will decide to submit some of your work because seeing yourself in print is the best feeling. I’m sitting here writing this with a smile on my face thinking ‘Yes!’; today is a happy day.

ps. just to give you a quick update – the book has now grown to more than 36,000 words and they’re still coming ;O)

I’m So Excited!

I just can’t hide it! I’m about to lose control and I think I like it! If you’re wondering what I am babbling about and whether I’ve finally lost the plot – it’s this and I haven’t (well not yet I don’t think):

I’ve had a poem published :O) I’ve been putting a few things out there over the last few weeks and have had a few rejections but then the lovely people at Spillwords contacted me to say that they were going to publish my poem today!!!

Added to that I also had an email from another site yesterday to say that they were going to publish one of my stories so you’ll be getting another thoroughly over-excited post towards the end of the month.

When I started this blog I had no idea that I would find a love of writing or so many wonderful people who would give me the encouragement and support I needed to even think about doing it professionally. Love and hugs to you all.

Promise

Of life ever after, of love ever after
Conditional on blind devotion, a jest?
Exquisite manipulation of senseless souls
Lost in the search of meaning and lifelong purpose
Led, oh so willingly, to believe there is more
What lies after? More lies? Eternal life? Like this?
Endlessly searching the missing piece of my soul
Forcibly ripped by all knowing, all powerful
There is reason, a reason, no comprehension
Given and taken, a blessing. Eternal curse.
We shoulder the burden of a heart that can break
I will love you forever, with you forever
I am weary of promises made and broken…..

You Come for Me

Each morning, from afar, dispelling the gloom

I step gratefully into your warm embrace

Leaving behind the loneliness of last night

I look for you to cleanse my soul, aching heart

Each morning, from afar, dispelling the gloom

I step gratefully into your warm embrace

Leaving behind the loneliness of last night

I look for you to cleanse my soul, aching heart

From pain, from memories of deep, lasting loss

You rise, rise, slowly spreading your healing light

I bask in each glorious ray that shines on me

Cling on to the end, when you fade. You leave me

To the company of fears in my silent room

I watched the sun rise this morning and it was absolutely magnificent, it also prompted me to write this…

I hope you all have a day filled with sunshine :O)

Keep It Inside…..

That beast you feel, locked deep within

Shredding your soul with casual contempt

Force it back though it sears your skin

From inside. Tearing pain with each attempt

That beast you feel, locked deep within

Shredding your soul with casual contempt

Force it back though it sears your skin

From inside. Tearing pain with each attempt

At freedom. It begs release with silent roar

Climbing higher with vicious blind intent

Hold tight, keep it back with all strength in your core

Though it promises no more than sad lament

How can you trust this creature built of pain

Who claws at your throat, again and again

The beast is strong, it surges, ready to fly

Too hard, no more,  let it go

And cry….

Watching…..

I watched the screen entranced

I saw captivating beauty

A World of elegance and grace

Such  passion, excitement

I watched the screen entranced

I saw captivating beauty

A World of elegance and grace

Such  passion and excitement

I wanted to step inside

A step forwards, it catches my eye

The sun, through a window

I watch. Such captivating beauty

I see the World

Full of elegance and grace

Passion and excitement

I’m want to step outside

Have a great Saturday everyone :O)

There is No Alternative……

To life. One free gift and it’s very brief.

Profit from today, there will be only one

Think not of tomorrow for it may not come

Let it take you like the wind takes a leaf

Almost……

Almost. The scent of your skin

Almost. The sound of your laugh

Almost. The taste of your lips

Almost. The sight of your smile

Almost. The touch of your hand

Almost. The scent of your skin

Almost. The sound of your laugh

Almost. The taste of your lips

Almost. The sight of your smile

Almost. The touch of your hand

Almost. Not quite.

Five senses. Alive. Almost.
