Imagine There’s No Heaven….

Does the thought that are lives are somehow guided by a divine being comfort us or stop us looking inside ourselves and reaching our true potential as human beings?

...It’s easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today

If there was no reward after death for the good and kind deeds that we do during our life -time would people still be moved to do them? If, at the same time, we knew for sure that there was no chance of punishment after death, would we be more predisposed to commit ‘evil’ deeds in the name of self-gratification? Does the thought that are lives are somehow guided by a divine being comfort us or stop us looking inside ourselves and reaching our true potential as human beings?

If we had no worries about yesterday and no fear of tomorrow would we all live more happily and peacefully today? If we could all live in the moment without judgement or criticism, could we finally find a way to co-exist without hatred and war?

These lyrics, by John Lennon, are, in my opinion, the most profound and timeless of any song ever written.

What song lyrics have stayed with you and continue to inspire you?
