Good morning blogging world! I hope that whatever you’ve got planned for today, you have fun! As always, I am kicking off today with Song Lyric Sunday, brought to us by the lovely Jim Adams, it’s a chance for us all to discover new music and new blogging friends so I do hope that you’ll play along. The prompt for this week gives us a massive amount of scope as it’s Dawn/Noon/Dusk/Midnight/Nocturnal/Diurnal.
If you’d like to play along, here are some rules for you:
- Post the lyrics to the song of your choice, whether it fits the theme or not.
- Please try to include the songwriter(s) – it’s a good idea to give credit where credit is due.
- Make sure you also credit the singer/band and if you desire you can provide a link to where you found the lyrics.
- Link to the YouTube video, or pull it into your post so others can listen to the song.
- Ping back to this post will eventually work, as long as you are being patient, but you can also place your link in the comments if you don’t like to wait.
- Read at least one other person’s blog, so we can all share new and fantastic music and create amazing new blogging friends in the process.
- Feel free to suggest future prompts.
- Have fun and enjoy the music.
My choice for this week isn’t exactly on point but if someone is saying ‘goodnight’ it has to be dark and possibly around midnight right? Anyway, I love it and it has the best saxophone solo ever so I do hope that you’ll enjoy it!
I sip my tea,
And we’re sitting here, playing so cool,
Thinking, ‘What will be, will be.’
And it’s getting kind of late now,
Oh, I wonder if you’ll stay now,
Stay now, stay now, stay now,
Or will you just politely say ‘Goodnight’?
Not knowing quite what to do and I’m
Feeling all fingers and thumbs,
I spill my tea, oh silly me,
It’s getting kind of late now,
I wonder if you’ll stay now,
Stay now, stay now, stay now,
Or will you just politely say ‘Goodnight’?
This moment has been waiting for a long, long time,
Makes me shiver,
Makes me quiver,
This moment I am so unsure,
This moment I have waited for,
Well is it something you’ve been waiting for,
Waiting for too?
Bare your soul,
Gather me to you and make me whole,
Tell me your secrets,
Sing me the song,
Sing it to me in the silent tongue.
I wonder if you’ll stay now,
Stay now, stay now, stay now,
Or will you just politely say ‘Goodnight’?
I remember us listening to this! Absolutely love it – one of my favourites from that era. Possibly my favourite saxophone solo along with “Baker Street”. Still have this on cassette! Brilliant choice Lisa x

Nice song Lisa and I think this is the first time that somebody referred to me as the lovely Jim Adams.

What a fantastic choice. It’s worth it just for the sax, but with the bonus of those words, so cleverly crafted, it’s a real gem!

I like how the stay now from the previous line turns into stay now, stay now, stay now. First time hearing this song but it’s soulful and the sax solo is a beautiful thing.
