Happy Sunday guys, hope that you’re all having a great weekend so far! It doesn’t seem possible that another week has passed but here we are again with Song Lyric Sunday which is brought to us by Jim Adams; do pop over and say hi. If you love music and connecting with other bloggers why not play along, it’s great fun :O)
Here are some rules for you:
- Post the lyrics to the song of your choice, whether it fits the theme or not.
- Please try to include the songwriter(s) – it’s a good idea to give credit where credit is due.
- Make sure you also credit the singer/band and if you desire you can provide a link to where you found the lyrics.
- Link to the YouTube video, or pull it into your post so others can listen to the song.
- Ping back to this post will eventually work, as long as you are being patient.
- Read at least one other person’s blog, so we can all share new and fantastic music and create amazing new blogging friends in the process.
- Feel free to suggest future prompts.
- Have fun and enjoy the music.
For this week, Jim has given us the prompt: Mountain/Hills.
I have made a bit of a stretch with this one but I think it’s a great song and I hope that you’ll enjoy it too.
Oh my god
Please help me, knee deep in the river tryin’ to get clean
He says wash your hands, get out the stains
But you best believe, boy, there’s hell to pay
Yeah you best believe, boy, there’s hell to pay, sayin’
Come on
Oh my god
Please help me, waist deep in the river, can you hear my plea?
He says, son, you come like a beggar in the streets
You might make it, boy, but by the skin of your teeth
You might make it, boy, but by the skin of your teeth, sayin’
I rambled with the worst of them
Fell in love with a harlequin
Saw the darkest hearts of men
And I saw myself starin’ back again
And I saw myself starin’ back again
Oh my god
Please help me, neck deep in the river screamin’ for relief
He says, it’s mine to give, but it’s yours to choose
You’re gonna sink or swim, you’re gonna learn the truth
No matter what you do you’re gonna learn the truth sayin’
Ate the bread that once was stone
Fell from a cliff, never broke a bone
Bowed down to get the kings overthrown
And I’m all alone and the fire grows
And I’m all alone and the fire grows
Swing sweet charity
Take what’s left of me
A new beginning or is this the end?
Swing sweet Seraphim
Take me back again
or watch me make the messes of men
I first heard this song whilst watching an episode of The Originals and I was struck by the raw power of it. A very strong beat persists throughout the track and the lyrics speak of violent desperation; it’s hard to explain but this is one of those songs that just stays with you. Just for fun, here’s the scene I was referring to (if you don’t like vampires or violence give it a miss), the song begins at around 1 minute 30.
Have a great day whatever you’re doing :O)

Never heard this before…but I enjoyed it – I know what you mean about raw power. (I gave the bottom video a miss – thank you for the warning!)

New to me. One thing I’m not doing today is entertaining vampires!

I have heard this song before, but I never knew the name of it or what group sang it. Thanks for adding it!

It took me ages to find it after I heard the clip on the Originals 😊

😦 Oh, I miss those characters so much! The Originals was the best spin-off show ever made. I may have followed Klaus and Elijah from VD, but quickly fell in love with Marcel Gerard. Wish Charles Michael Davis would get into another starring role on a series I can binge watch! LOL Great song pick, too! 🙂

Looks like a good show. Makes me want to see what happens next. The song fits right with the scene. What channel is this on? Hoping you say netflix 🙂

It sounds like it might be a spinoff from Underworld? Where there are invincible hybrid vampires?
