Here we are, the first Sunday in December and ready to celebrate…..no not Christmas that’s still 3 weeks away….Song Lyric Sunday :O) Brought to us each week by the lovely Helen (she’s been poorly so why not pop over to see her and give her a virtual hug), it presents the perfect opportunity to discover new music and meet new bloggers.
Here are some rules for you if you’d like to play along:
- Post the lyrics to the song of your choice, whether it fits the theme or not
- Please try to include the songwriter(s) – it’s a good idea to give credit where credit is due and it’s honestly just a simple Google search
- Make sure you also credit the singer/band and provide a link to where you found the lyrics
- Link to the YouTube video, or pull it into your post so others can listen to the song
- Ping back to this post or my own Song Lyric Sunday post
- Read at least one other person’s blog so we can all share new and fantastic music and create amazing new blogging friends in the process
This is my choice for this week:
Makes her body older than it really is
She says it’s high time she went away
No one’s got much to say in this town
Trouble is the only way is down
Down, down
I’m watching you breathing for the last time
A song for your heart, but when it is quiet
I know what it means and I’ll carry you home
I’ll carry you home
And another day God will give her some
Trouble is the only way is down
Down, down
I’m watching you breathing for the last time
A song for your heart, but when it is quiet
I know what it means and I’ll carry you home
I’ll carry you home
And someone’s little girl was taken from the world tonight
Under the Stars and Stripes
I’m watching you breathing for the last time
A song for your heart, but when it is quiet
I know what it means and I’ll carry you home
I’ll carry you home

Never really followed James Blount, but my children did so I’m familiar with him but not either of these songs. Both are quite powerful in different ways. Thanks for the shares! 😊👍💯

Me too! Yes, you’re right, the fight against illness takes as much bravery as anything….your poem demonstrates that – it’s beautiful :O) xx

Yes, they were our lifetime partners, who left us too early 😊 but I know she’d want me to be brave, and keep living and enjoying myself, 😊😊xx

What absolutely fantastic choices to offer us Lisa. I really enjoyed them, although that really isn’t the right word. Anyone who has been anywhere near war will agree that it is futile and never solves a thing.

I know exactly what you mean Peter, they are beautiful songs in their own right but sad that they had to be written xx
