Got to be Perfect?

In our desperate attempts to be perfect, we ignore all the wonderful things about ourselves and focus our attention on our flaws, the things to be improved. If we put all this energy into recognising what is good in us, what is beautiful, wouldn’t we naturally find perfect happiness?

Just a thought……….

    1. Excellent question Tim! My feeling is that ‘society’ provides unrealistic expectations that we then try to live up to. I think you’re absolutely right to make that separation but, yes, as you say, a difficult balance to achieve :O) x

  1. Oh Lisa! I think this is something we learn as we get older. We seem to have an inbuilt capacity to see our flaws and not our goid points. Unless of course we are arrogant and narcissistic! But as time passes we think, “What the HECK! ‘I’m bloody GOOd.” Lol. Yes, and we DO start to see the good in ourselves. But I think also it can depend on howwe are raised. Some parents downplay kids’ good points and make them feel bad about themsekves. Ah! Such is life! Xx

    1. I think you’re right Lorraine, we do tend to have much more of a ‘what the hell’ attitude as we get older as the opinion of others seems to matter less but, yes, a great deal depends on the messages that are received from adults when we are children :O) x

      1. I tell you what, once you have had cancer you don’t CARE what the gell others think of you, or what you say. I say all sorts of things, even to people in authority, that I would never have said before lol. I am a little firebrand now. I shock them. And as for clothes, Iwaer the brightest possible, and often incongruous colours lol. God only knows what I really look like but I have this devil may care thing. Ha!

  2. My 12 step sponsor has been having me take a new approach to this. Instead of focusing on how I act out on a character defect, she has me focusing on how I act out on the OPPOSITE of that character defect. It’s definitely been helping me see thinks more clearly. I’m not as flawed as I sometimes fear😊
