How on earth did it get to be Sunday again so quickly? Another week has just flown by and here we are again ready to put on our musical thinking caps for Song Lyric Sunday. If you love music and love meeting new blogger friends this is for you! The brainchild of the lovely Helen over at This thing called life one word at a time, SLS requires us to share our favourite songs in response to a one word prompt; this week it’s ‘Cars’.
If you’d like to play along, here are the rules:
- Post the lyrics to the song of your choice, whether it fits the theme or not
- Please try to include the songwriter(s) – it’s a good idea to give credit where credit is due and it’s honestly just a simple Google search
- Make sure you also credit the singer/band and provide a link to where you found the lyrics
- Link to the YouTube video, or pull it into your post so others can listen to the song
- Ping back to this post or my own Song Lyric Sunday post
- Read at least one other person’s blog so we can all share new and fantastic music and create amazing new blogging friends in the process
Little rebel that I am, I’ve decided to change things up just a little and share with you the song I most like to listen to while I am driving (in my car so not too far away from the prompt).
“Freebird”
Would you still remember me?
For I must be traveling on now
‘Cause there’s too many places I’ve got to see.
But if I stayed here with you, girl,
Things just couldn’t be the same.
‘Cause I’m as free as a bird now,
And this bird you cannot change.
And this bird you cannot change.
And this bird you cannot change.
Lord knows I can’t change.
Bye, bye, baby, it’s been a sweet love, yeah,
Though this feeling I can’t change.
But please don’t take it so badly,
‘Cause Lord knows I’m to blame.
But if I stayed here with you, girl,
Things just couldn’t be the same.
‘Cause I’m as free as a bird now,
And this bird you’ll never change.
And the bird you cannot change.
And this bird you cannot change.
Lord knows, I can’t change.
Lord, help me, I can’t change.
Lord, I can’t change.
Won’t you fly high, free bird, yeah?
Great post. Have a wonderful sunday!✨

Thanks Lusa. Oh YES. I learnt to drive a bit later in life – like, I was 40. I never ever thought I would own a car of my own. But I passed my test, got a second hand Volvo and it was AMAZING. I lived driving on mitorways, to different cities, getting lost quite often lol. But that was all part of the fun of it. I once went to Leeds, and list my way as I went through an underpass and didn’t know where the gelk I was when I came out the other side, was wanting to get back to Scunthorpe where I lived, drove round and round and round, couldn’t find my way, saw a signpost to Bradford, knew that I knew my way back to Scunthorpe from Bradfor, and thought “Bugger it, I’ll go to Bradford.” Rang my husband, said, “I’m on my way to. Bradford.” Reply: “What the hell are you going to Bradford for?” Lol. My last car, a black VW Polo is parked out on the road, and though I will never drive it again I cannot bear to get rid of it. It was brand new when I got it and I was so proud of it. And YAY, the MUSIC lol. Maybe one day I will get some new eyes!

I shouldn’t laugh but that did make me chuckle; sounds like the sort of thing I’d do 😂 not surprised you can’t say goodbye to the Polo, there is something lovely about a brand new car 😊
Yes, the music – can’t drive without it 😁
I don’t know if it’s possible for you but, if it is, I hope so my friend xxx

This is an awesome song! I have listened to it many times when my husband was into Lynyrd Skynyrd, but being that English is my second language, I never fully understand what was sung. Like, I kept wondering whether the bird cannot be changed or chained. Reading the lyrics helps me get to a deeper understanding of it.
